www.gogoblinds.co.uk Interview

By Interviewer at 02/19/09 12:03

Name of your website?

www.gogoblinds.co.uk

Your name?

David Oxley

Your Location (city, etc)

York

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Gogo blinds offers a range of high quality roller, vertical , wooden, pleated and blackout blinds that will freshen up any room in the house. For instance all our roller blinds have metal internal rollers not plastic so they are more sturdy and last longer. This is backed up by Free swatch samples and free delivery in the UK.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We felt that there was a gap in the market for good quality blinds that could be cut to suit any size of window. This is particulary advantageous when fitting out a bedroom. living room or kitchen that do not have standard sized windows.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

The web site has been launched since 2008.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

We wanted a name that reflected blinds and also that Gogo Blinds were able to do things quickly hence the GoGo name.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It is definately that we use better , higher quality componets, the are unlimited swatches available for customers to order to see what the blind looks like and we deliver free within 5 working days.

We also have a number of tools to help people measure the width , depth and slat sizes to make the blind fit better.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We would like to become one of the largest blinds retialers in the UK.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We decided to get the web site ready in time for the busy Spring Time. Our initial aim was to have a full launch of the site last October but the credit crunch dictated that we hold on to the marketing spend until we could judge the market better and avoid the worst of the recessionary forces.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

The main development budgets would be spent on marketing the site.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes before we started we have built up some strong trading links with suppliers who are able to supply us quicly and can ship for us if necessary.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

The biggest challenge was deciding when to have a full launch of the site becuase of the credit crunch. We have ahd a soft launch to judge the market a little better without incuring substantial overheads.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Judging the way that the blinds market has reacted to the credit crunch and also to see which kind of blind has sold the best from the selection of roller, vertical , wooden, venetian and pleated blinds that we sell.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

PPC because of its speed and our decision to leave the seo until 2009.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

When we started the site we produced different scenarios and one was a grow based on a major downturn in the economy so we have scaled backed our marketing efforts in line with this.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site has been live for about 6 months. We did not expect explosive growth because of the economy so we decided on a three yaer plan and that is what we are stick to at the momenet.

What is your website address?
