What inspired you to launch your own website?
I introduced this company in North America and set up the site to assist in letting customers know about 'Les Jardins' products.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
1999 - and it was a 2 page info site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
It is the brand name of the products.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Our designs are unique - the site is very basic and easy to navigate.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Not sure - it has been an experiment and I wanted to learn how to create a simple website. I would like to develop it into a better designed and interactive site.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It took 6 years for the products to begin to become successful.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
That would be easy - hire professional designers to create a great site.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I would get assistance if it got big too quickly for me to handle.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The site has been pretty inexpensive and not much of a headache. The biggest hurdle is my learning as I go approach.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Site wise - it has been pretty easy.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I just list in various search engines - that seems to work pretty well. I depend on people knowing the brand name and seeking us out.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
No.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Since 1999 and I'll continue as long as it's productive.
Is it worth it?
Sure, it has been a great learning experience to create a website and see it working.
