Name of your website?Swimming Pool Centre
Your name?
Richard Laughton
Your Location (city, etc)
Malaga
Please give us a short summary of your website?
A resource to help home owners in Spain to understand more about their swimming pools. People new to Spain or other warm countries are not familiar wih how to tackle problems with swimming pools
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I was looking for information on swimming pool problems and information about choosing a pool heater. There is a lot of choice out there, so it helps to be able to make an informed decision about what to choose.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I decided on the name because it was most appropriate to the subject matter
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I dont think that there are any truly similar offerings. This is a website open to all, although it is funded by advertising, it is impartial. We are not selling anything or promoting one particular product
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
The eventual goal is to have the largest source of information for swimming pools in Europe
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Haha - Lots of time and money invested, for very little return
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Develop the website to be able to add more content, more quickly. Maybe I would employ a search engine optimization specialist
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge has been developing a website with very little experience. The website tries to cover a lot of topics, it can be difficult to make this look neat
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Google adwords and local press have been the most succesful, but good old fashioned word of mouth has worked well.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Yes, definatly, its almost a full time job. Most people think, right set up a website and it will take care of its self - not so, its a lot of work to develop content and activley promote it
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been running for around 1 month, it will run as long as it covers its costs
What is your website address?
Swimming Pool Centre
