Upper End Home Improvement Interview

By Interviewer at 06/19/08 12:04

Name of your website?

Upper End Home Improvement

Your name?

David Flamm

Your Location (city, etc)

Tinley Park

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Upper End Home Improvement is a convenient way for customers to contact my company and submit a request for a remodeling estimate. I give economic home improvement tips that will help the homeowner with their property value. Our services include new construction, design and decor advice, exterior/interior remodeling, simple to large scale renovation, commercial or residential etc...

What inspired you to launch your own website?

My girlfriend works in the internet technology industry and said the internet will help to expose Upper End Home Improvement.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first website and it has been less than 30 days.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I chose the name of my construction company.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It is different because I offer internet users a way to submit their information without having to spend 30 minutes filling in the blanks. I also give my current customers a way to submit a referral and receive a discount for their future project. In addition I feature projects of the month so my customers will be able to see their newly remodeled or built home online.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I am going to keep my website.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

You cannot reach higher goals without investing in yourself.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I wouldn't want to change. I provide a great service and all of my work is from a referral base which keeps myself and my crew busy around the clock. I would give more to charity and I would help up and coming contractors.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes I have plenty of staff and resources for service.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

There have been a couple of situations where I was contracted by another contractor and the home owner didn't pay them for the work we completed.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Starting up my business. It doesn't happen overnight.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I am not necessarily running the website, however, there is a lot of initial and non-stop work that goes into it. Its a job in itself.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site is less than 30 days old. I believe the site will do well. Most of my customers always ask me if I have a website and that told me there is a demand for one.

What is your greatest achievement?

Being able to teach my son how to create and build things. Its awesome!

What is your website address?
