bathroom studio Interview

By Interviewer at 05/08/08 11:22

Name of your website?

bathroom studio

Your name?

George webster

Your Location (city, etc)

Brentwood

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Bathroom Studio have been supplying luxury bathroom products for 15 years. Specialists in Villeroy & Boch luxury bathroom equipment. Based in Essex UK. Villeroy & Boch spares supplied online.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Seemed a natural progression from our established showroom business, as we have gained experience in our specialist field.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Our first website was launched in 1997.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Actually, we did change our name for the beginning of the millenium. Our previous name was quite long winded, so we updated our name & logo in 2000.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

With so many websites out there, that's a tough question!. But we don't just sell anything. With 15 years knowledge, we only sell what we install on our own installations. Quality is king! We also encourage people to contact us with any queries.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We all enjoy what we do. Hopefully it will keep us all going until retirement!

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

bathroom studio has kept us all in a job for 15 years!

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Open up a branch in somewhere hot & sunny!

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Probably not! As we deal in a specialist market, that's not going to happen. Our plan is to grow steadily, learning by our mistakes and trying to make sure it doesn't happen again!

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Not many. We are mostly hands on and get involved with most aspects of the business.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Choosing and adding the products to our site!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Same old basics. Making sure your site is tidy and functional before splashing your name about. Submit to quality links. Don't go for quantity!

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It's alot of hard work! People expect that once it's up and running, they can sit back and rake in the cash. It doesn't work like that in our industry. You have to constantly update. No-one benefits from a broken link or out-dated site.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

As said before, we have had a web presence for over 10 years, although the online shop has been going for about a year.

What's your achillies heel?

It's (mostly) a male enviroment, so organisation is our weakness! We are getting better though.(and rely heavily on electronic gadgets!)

What is your website address?
