Carpet cleaning consumer guide Interview

By Interviewer at 03/16/08 23:21

Name of your website?

Carpet cleaning consumer guide

Your name?

Mark Briody

Your Location (city, etc)

Sydney

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The carpet cleaning consumer guide was developed by Mark Briody...a former certified and licensed carpet cleaner with over 16 years experience. The guide was developed to help and educate the public about how to hire honest and quality carpet cleaners and to help avoid being ripped off by the industry scammers. Also a new additive for Honest and hard working carpet cleaners is the opportunity to get a free endorsement by the carpet cleaning consumer guide (strict conditions apply) at the link to us page.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Good question… As I was a carpet cleaner for many years I experienced many consumers being ripped off by the bad apples in the carpet cleaning industry… Usually by bait and switch tactics. I found it so frustrating when a consumer was taken advantaged of just because of their naivety and not knowing what to ask when booking a carpet cleaning company.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This was my first website…About a year and a bit ago. Not sure of the exact date but I worked on it for almost a year before it was up and running.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Simple...I wanted it to be a name that said...I'm here to help you for FREE.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Well...it's Free in both categories where it offers something. Free to the consumer where it makes recomendations and suggestions and free to the honest carpet cleaner where it allows them to utilise our online articles as endorsments.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to allow this site to make its way to the top of the search (it has already done very well with Google Australia) to provide a constant free resource.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

It is a non profit website so I make no money from it.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would spend money on adwords at my own expense.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

With ease

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None

What has been your biggest challenge?

There is no challenge...I find it fun even though I get some email complaints from what I call the less than honorable carpet cleaners so I guess this is my greatest challenge if we can call it one.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Google organic listings

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It has not.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It's been up and running for a little over a year now and I entend to run it till the day I die!

Replace this with a question of your own

Why are your Google PR rankings so low?

What is your website address?
