Please give us a short summary of your website?
Our site is intended to give the consumer a tool to understand the many options available today in window fashions. The site is very detailed and provides a large number of photographs to assist the client in making an informed decision.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We felt that we needed to create a resource for our clients to use in making a decision as to which treatments were appropriate for their windows. We also hope that the site will instill the confidence that we are the experts in our area that we provide the highest level of service.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Our first site was created almost five years ago; http://www.seacoastblind.com. The original site was a much smaller version of our current site.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I guess it is not very original, but our website name is our company name and what we do.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We tried to explain all of the options available today to consumers for custom draperies, plantation shutters as well as blinds and shades. Our site is much more detailed and provides many more photographs than the average company website.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
We see the website as a work in progress, we hope to be seen as an authority site on the web.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
We are very please with the results our site have given our business.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
More professionally shot photographs; more before and after shots.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Absolutely
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Our only headache is when our host has gone down. Now we are with a larger host that has redundancy.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Keeping the site fresh, making the time to make changes to the site on a continual basis.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Probably pay per click, but we are being found and ranked higher and higher by search engines, so that PPC is decreasing in importance.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I never realized the amount of time required to maintain a quality site.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We will maintain the site as long as we are in business. Today, the site is a core component of my business.
