Haven Painting Interview

Massachusetts, Interior Painting: Million Dollar Red Great Room Name of your website?

Haven Painting

Your name?

George Haven

Your Location (city, etc)

Upton

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Haven Painting is a professional house painting company providing interior and exterior residential and commercial painting services in Massachusetts. The Haven Painting website is primarily meant to showcase the services we offer. Potential clients can choose from our list of services, view images of our work and read testimonials from prior customers.

The site also features "do it yourself: painting guides and other painting and decorating information.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

As the internet is becoming more a part of peoples daily lives, I believe that it is essential for businesses to have a web presence.

A properly designed website is a powerful way to connect with people who desire our services. It is far more intimate and informative than a newspaper advertisement or a line in the yellow pages.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I am a very "hands on" type of person, and because of the work I do I pay close attention to detail. I started working on the website less that a year ago and I have to admit I have put a substantial amount of time into designing and building it.

At first, I thought I would just find a template and tweak it until I was happy. However, after spending some time on it I wasn't satisfied with the result. I decided to take the time to learn xhtml and css (and a little javascript and php) and I started over from scratch. Of course, once I was fairly happy with the site I realized that I had to learn search engine optimization as well.

I am very pleased at this point, although I still consider the website to be a work in progress(I think it always will be).

The most satisfying aspect of the experience is that the website has brought my company together with people that were as excited to have found our service as we were to have them as a client. That is what really makes all the long hours of work on the website worth the time and effort.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

The success that I have had with my website is due mostly to the seo work that I have done and also to some ppc campaigns I have run to fill in the gaps. The internet is highly competitive - especially when you are new and it takes time and effort to succeed.

Final thoughts:

I think that every business needs to have a website. Whether it is just to provide some basic information to potential customers or a more intensive approach that helps to bring people together that is beneficial for both the seller/service provider and the customer. I find that personally when I am a customer I am less apt to do business with people I am not familiar with if I am unable to find any information about their business when I search the internet.
