Rain and Melting Snow Caused Driveway to Sink

With all this warmer weather melting the snow, the ground has been getting really soft. On top of all the melting snow we have been getting a lot of rain making the ground even softer. All this can cause gravel in your driveway to wash away or even sink into the ground.

My driveway is in between my house and my neighbor’s house. It is only wide enough for a car to fit through. My driveway is gravel with two concrete runs where the tires on my car will drive. The concrete slabs are basically a sidewalk for the tires, with gravel in between the two concrete paths.

Yesterday I noticed that the concrete paths were sinking! The concrete cracked in some spots and it sunk into the ground probably a good 4 or 5 inches. There is a 4 inch thick pipe going along the side of the driveway that used to be buried. I never noticed it until the other day. When the concrete sank into the ground it forced the pipe up above the ground.

My car rides low to the ground and now I can't use my driveway because it will scrap too bad. I guess I should probably wait until the summer to fix it so this doesn't happen again. But when I do, are there any suggestions to how I should fix it?
