Name of your website?Steve The TIler
Your name?
Steve Sharp
Your Location (city, etc)
I live in Rosyth on the banks of the forth by Dunfermline Scotland
Please give us a short summary of your website?
My website has been produced with both existing customers and new customers in mind, it includes a vidio show of my work so everyone can see actual projects taking shape from initial design ideas to luxurious kitchens bathrooms and floors.I will soon be adding some of my client reviews of my work and a blog for people to ask any questions direct to me.I hope my site will show my honesty and integrity clean working and experience providing free estimated and a full 12 month gaurantee.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Following several people asking me for my website i decided it was time to get with it and put my work online and provide people with a place to go for ideas and insparation.I also added articles on various topics for people to read rather than the usual hard sell site you see everywhere nowadays. The deciding factor i think was so many people pointed out that it is small jobs like sealing and grouting that were important to them and they felt that flashy sites means flashy costs therfore to that end i hope my site will provide customers with a comfortable place to go no mater how small the job and feel welcome and safe to ask any question at all and get an honest reply for an ordinary guy.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
The site is just launching now my business as steve the tiler has been based in rosyth for many happy years this website is my first so any comments will be greatfully received :-)
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Now that was a challenge whilst I am STEVE THE TILER this url and many variations of the same where gone so i had to think a little out of the box and have steve the tiler as the header and tilingdunfermline as the url i could not change the name of my business after all these years even my friends call me the tiler :-) so this was a compromise the url says what i do and the name will be with me always.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I intend to provide information education and quality examples of my own work backed up with reviws ect not the usual name address and contact number with some photos and i hope to show my personality and a place to feel at home either whilst reading my pages or chatting on my blog.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
haha well this site is an extension of me therfore it will stay with me and my customers for now and i hope for ever( i will update it by the way over the years haha)
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The site is in reality has grown through requests from my customers old and new therfore i am investing in the future by providing them with what they want "they are always right you know haha" I will better reply to you in a few months as i have just launched if workload increases fantastic and if a few existing customers get what they were looking for even better as word of mouth has been my main provider to date.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
hahah well i would be retired sipping tea in edinburgh but seriously i dont think i would do any different at this point the guy wo did the html stuff was very patient with me and i am very pleased with the results so far ie no flash but facts i like it that way.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I have been in business a very long time and i think that is down to being able to adapt and overcome to fit with my business requiremnts this is my livelyhood of which i am very proud and i take all mesures to ensure customer satisfaction at all times hence my proven motto i will not let you down.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
no unexpected costs this has been a plan in motion for some time and like any project be it a website or a full wetroom tiled you got to have a plan hahah
What has been your biggest challenge?
my biggest challenge was keywords and placement of headers ect writing for a website and writing a letter is like two diferent worlds therefore getting your ideas and information across and keeping it so the search engines like it using search termes in your text and still provide your customers with the right information, well i tell you it was like the twilight zone at times hense ron my web guy being patient explaning it all so we ended up with a website not a tacky sales page.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
As i have just started i have been provided with a list of suggestions ideas and so on truth be known i have allsorts from ebooks to reports oh a copy of web ceo ect so you will need to come back when i am all educated haha
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
As i said above the information fitting with customers and search engines wa a nightmare however i am pleased to say i am getiing to where i wanted to be i thought a page at first now i have a 10 page website and growing so i suppose it has exceeded my expectations
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
i stress i have been tiling in dinfermline for many years even though my website is a new adition to my customer service options.I fully intend to have my site availible to my customers for the long term.
what would you say to people searching for your type of site
I think it would be always look past the webage and see what is on offer to you on the full site. Ask yourself do i get a feel for the tiler is the tiler experienced, clean and safe to have in your home or a faceless adress and contact number an email address and or contact form ensure the estimate is free pay no one up front and most important a full gurantee all work including grouting and sealing if you check these things no matter who you have tiling for you i truly believe you can Relax in safe and in professional hands at all times.
