Please give us a short summary of your website?
We sell rare and hard to find shade pulls for roller shades.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
We constantly hear from our customers that they are so happy to have found us. We carry items that people have trouble finding in any store locally or even online. We want people to have an easier time finding the things that they are looking for that we have.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Our first website was zwickshades.com and it was back around 2000.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Shadepull.com is the most accurate domain relating to what we are selling on it.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
That we have a selection like no other. We have old and new style pulls that nobody seems to have anymore.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To build the site as large as it can become and have as many interested people find it as possible. We will be launching a new website that allows people to build a custom roller shade. That site will offer options that other similar sites simply do not have.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Shadepull.com is a small site but the result is very positive so far.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
For this particular site, not much. We are very happy how it looks and works. It's hard to think of any major improvments.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
We can support a large increase in volume. You do the best you can with what you have.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Not any unexpected costs, a few headaches with designing the site but nothing that was not overcome.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Actually deciding to start and project after months of thinking about it.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth and search engine traffic.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Actually its exactly what our expectations were, but its nice to see people place orders during the time that our store location is closed.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It has been up for about a month already and as long as we get enough orders to cover our monthly costs for maintaining it and a little more, then we are definitely going to keep it up for as long as possible.
