When I was young my mother used to stop at every garage sale she could find. We used to have a cottage three hours away from where we lived and when we went, we drove through a lot of small, little towns which gave us ample opportunity to see everyone else's junk for sale. We bought most of it and displayed it in the house. Reading this article and looking back on what we had for furniture, I can honestly say we were probably one of the first "shabby chic" households in Canada.
