Why did you launch your website?
I got tired of working for the man. I want to be the man working for myself, so i left my job, and decided to start my own carpet cleaning and pressure washing business, so if you need your carpets cleaned, and your auto(s) detailed, you may book your appointment online.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My very first website was stupid, and it was a very long time ago, and was very expensive. It was about displaying banners and advertising.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
I thought about it for a little bit; $50 dollar carpet cleaning, and compared other carpet cleaning rates, so it is easy to say, we can clean up to 4 rooms for $50, thus $50 Dollar Carpet Cleaning was born.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I can do what other big-boy carpet cleaning compaines can not do, spend time cleaning your carpet. I will give you the care and attention that others will neglect, or I will re-clean your carpets.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I am in this for the long haul. I will be leasing the carpeting cleaning machine for the next 3 years, and everything else is paid for in cash, regardless, I want your business, and I want you as a repeat customer to help you with your carpet needs.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
This is a new start-up, there are no estimates to provide at this time. I look forward to this new venture, even if I am not successful, I have some pretty awuful pets, and not carpet friendly at that, but I will have the best portable carpet machine in the industry and I will never have pet issues again.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would surely make my site more advanged, and I do have plans for that later, but I am not going to let the secret out of the bag, so the big boys will get an upper edge.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
I am a one man carpet cleaner, if the business exploded, then if you want my best rates, then our customers will have to wait until I can get to them, and I guarantee, my customers will not be disapointed, and it maybe worth the small wait.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
I sorta reviewed a lot of stuff before making my final decision on which carpet machine to purchase. I did not think of myself because of costs. I am thinking is my customer going to be happy when I am finished, so I did not skimp on this or that, plus the machine has upgrade features if i decide to add more options.
What has been your biggest challenge?
I think the biggest challenge so far would be finding clients. I think once I get my foot in the door, and I do a super job on your carpets, then word of mouth will spreed.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I have just setup the website, so it has not been setup long enough for a lot of promotions. I have called and have meetings with a couple of local advertising agencies, so we hope that goes well.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I love websites. I have been working online and with websites for many years. Feel free to check out my website, and tell me what you think. I think i have done a very good job.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Websites are very in-expensive. If I do not see success right away, then the website will cost me no more to keep it online. As long as I have an interest in cleaning carpets, and as long as I am attempting to find new clients, then the website will remain.
